Urban Politics and Governance

This course provides the current debates in major issues regarding urban areas. Firstly, we will discuss the basic theories, methods, concepts and trends in urban politics. Next, we will move to intersectional accounts including the roles of ethnicities, classes, and immigrants in cities and metropolitan areas. Finally, we will unpack the three-fold relationship between politics, governance, and development in the context of urban areas relying on case studies from the Global South and North.
