Hannah Arendt Humanities Network Launches Humanities for the People on Medium
The Hannah Arendt Humanities Network invites members of the OSUN community to submit writings for its new publishing platform for public humanities, Humanities for the People. The project is open to contributions from all those interested in making academic work more relevant and accessible to the public. Works that promote reflection on issues of universal relevance and which align with the core open society values and practices of civil criticism and intellectual humility are encouraged. The new monthly feature on Medium was named for the Hannah Arendt Humanities Network's biannual writing retreat, organized by Universidad de los Andes. The Biannual Writing Retreat first took place during the summer of 2023 when fifteen scholars from across the network gathered for ten days to write, read, and collaborate on a diverse set of themes and concerns.
Humanities for the People aims to advance the reach of social and cultural study. Directed and edited by UniAndes faculty Gregory J. Lobo, the forum will feature a new essay on the last day of each month by a scholar seeking to broaden the audience for their research. With over 3,000 followers, the Hannah Arendt Center’s Medium platform is an ideal forum for the Humanities for the People project, drawing readers from a variety of backgrounds and vantage points with interests in the humanities, philosophy, and strong writing.
Scholars from across OSUN are invited to submit approximately 1500 words to [email protected]. Essays will be considered on a rolling basis.
Deadline to submit is Friday, December 15
