Call for Applications: Spring/Summer 2024 Graduate Research Mobility Funding
Deadline: February 11, 2024
OSUN graduate students can apply for research mobiity funding for periods of 3 weeks to 2 months between May 1 and July 31, 2024 at other OSUN institutions.
This scholarship scheme is intended to fund research within an ongoing graduate degree program at an OSUN institution. Students must have active student status at an OSUN institution until after the end of their mobility.
Eligibility
Graduate students (Masters and Doctoral level) enrolled at the below list of OSUN institutions can apply for funding to conduct research at another institution on this list:
Al-Quds University, East Jerusalem, Palestine
American University of Central Asia, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
Bard College, NY, USA
BRAC University, Dhaka, Bangladesh
Central European University, Vienna, Austria
European Humanities University, Vilnius, Lithuania
National Sun Yat-Sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan
Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, US
Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia
University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa
The focus of the mobility scheme is on North-South / South-North and South-South.
Proposed research must be connected to an
OSUN theme
. Former involvement of the applicant in other OSUN activities is also regarded favorably.
Students cannot apply for funding to do research at their home institution or an institution other than on the list.
Research Funding Scholarships
The program offers a combination of merit- and need-based scholarships that range from $1,000 to $,5,000. All scholarship payments are gross amounts, inclusive of all taxes and benefits.
The scholarship can cover travel and visa expenses, mandatory insurance, and accommodations and living stipend for the duration of the research visit (21-60 days). Students are required to submit a detailed research funding budget proposal as part of their application.

The following materials must be submitted with the application:
Filled out application form on

Statement of Purpose
Research proposal and timeline for the mobility period
Up-to-date resume (CV)
Letter of support from your supervisor/academic program director at your home institution
Letter of invitation/endorsement by your proposed research mentor/faculty member at the intended host institution (see specifications below)
Budget proposal for your research visit
Please ensure your research has been cleared for potential ethical concerns and be prepared to provide proof of this if selected for a scholarship
The letter of endorsement by the host institution should explain:
The nature of the research project and its relationship to the institution / faculty being approached
What the researcher hopes to accomplish
What programs or seminars the researcher hopes to participate in, if any
Dates and duration
It is the responsibility of the applicant to secure the invitation/endorsement letter. Students can find the contact information of faculty members / researchers of OSUN member institutions online and contact them directly. Students’ own faculty can at times be helpful in setting up connections. When contacting partner institutions please mention that if your research proposal is selected you will receive funding through OSUN.
Only complete applications, including both the letter of invitation from the host institution and the letter of recommendation from the student’s home institution, will be considered.
Applications for graduate research mobility must be submitted through the OSUN student mobility application platform linked below by Sunday, February 11.
Timeline
Applications will be reviewed by the OSUN Graduate Research Mobility Selection Committee composed of representatives of OSUN institutions. All complete applications submitted by February 11, 2024 will be reviewed by mid-March. All candidates will be notified of the decision in late March 2024.
Students who were awarded a research grant are required to complete a brief questionnaire on their mobility within four weeks of the completion of the research mobility visit. The follow-up grant questionnaire will include a narrative description of the visit outcomes.
