Call for Applications: OSUN "Work-Away" Staff Mobility Program
Deadline Expired on October 13, 2023
OSUN has launched its "Work-Away" Staff Mobility pilot program and invites applications from university staff to spend up to one month embedded at a partner institution to learn about its administrative processes and contribute to cross-institutional integration.
OSUN Work-Away aims to promote collaboration among staff across partner institutions and advance deeper integration across OSUN. It provides opportunities for administrative and academic support staff, particularly mid-level staff at under-resourced OSUN institutions, to learn from partners who are strong in administrative areas critical to OSUN integration and to build lasting partnerships across institutions.
The selection committee, with representatives from several OSUN institutions, will review applications and notify applicants in November 2023. Final decisions will be contingent upon approval of the host institution. Applicants should plan to conduct their work-away between January and July 2024.
Staff members have to agree with their direct supervisor on the workload and tasks they will perform for their home institutions during their time on OSUN Work-Away. They will need to devote at least half of their time while away to work for the host institution.
Eligibility Requirements:
Full-time staff who has a permanent position or a work contract valid until June 2025 or later
Has worked at their institution for at least three years
Has the endorsement of their direct supervisor and office director
Works at an under-resourced OSUN institution that participates in either OSUN courses, the Center for Liberal Arts and Sciences Pedagogy, student mobility, or other core integrative programs
Proposes global South-South or South-North mobility
Selection Criteria:
Professional
Works in a home institution position that is similar to that of colleagues at the host institution
Has clear goals of what they would like to learn at the host institution and how that will benefit their home institution
Is prepared to share their expertise with colleagues at the host institution and their work-away experience with colleagues at their home institution
Cultural
Has not yet lived in the country where they are seeking to Work-Away
Has little or no experience living abroad, especially living on another continent
OSUN Integration
Works in an office related to OSUN integration, such as a registrar's office, student mobility office, or disability services office
Has no other opportunities to travel through other OSUN programs
Preferably, has participated previously in an OSUN program, such as the professional development for administrators program
Expenses:
OSUN will pay for travel expenses, insurance, and accommodation at a furnished apartment (not hotel nor per diem). In addition, if living expenses are significantly higher at the host institution than your home institution, OSUN will provide a salary supplement to cover the difference between your salary and the salary for an equivalent position at the host institution for the period of your stay. The amount paid for accommodation and for any salary supplement will depend on the location and will be determined by OSUN in close consultation with the host institution.
