Visual Storytelling for Civic Engagement 2022 Festival Winner: "The Price of Freedom"

"The Price of Freedom,” winner of the People's Choice Award, investigates violations of freedom of speech in Kyrgyzstan and the importance of active citizenship in opposing an authoritarian regime.
Awardees have been announced for the Visual Storytelling for Civic Engagement Film Festival, the culminating event of OSUN's “Visual Storytelling for Student Engagement” fall 2022 student workshop. More than 100 people attended the online event, which was organized by the class of student filmmakers and included award selections for nine competitive categories. Students and instructors celebrated a total of 25 student-made videos from across the OSUN Network and awards were given for best script, editing, cinematography, narration, social impact, environmental stewardship, civic engagement, music and the arts, and people's choice.

Over 1,000 attendees cast online votes for the People’s Choice Award, which went to “The Price of Freedom” by AUCA students Abasova Rasmiia, Mirakova Shakhzoda Aidai, Meirachova Aidai, and Salieva Madina.
