University World News Spotlights Female Students from Afghanistan Who Relocated with AUAF to Qatar
In the article, AUAF President Ian Bickford discusses the university's tough decision to move to Qatar and how its staff there continues to support both students who are physically located in Qatar and those still in Afghanistan, who access OSUN Online Courses through AUAF.
Due to the Taliban's ban on education for women and girls, female students are in acute need of AUAF's services. While students interviewed for the article describe the difficulties of being uprooted from their studies, families, and homes as they relocated to another country, they also note that continued access to study is giving them renewed hope for the future.
“Before, I was really sad because I had to leave everything behind," says one student. "It is very hard if you study six semesters and then have to start again from the first semester. But coming to AUAF opened my mind, my vision, even changed my goals from the ones I had when I was at Kabul University.”
