Students Want an Online Liberal Arts Global Classroom

“Student voices from around the world suggest we’re on the right path,” says Timand Bates, online courses program manager, of OSUN’s liberal arts global classroom model.
Timand Bates, Program Manager for OSUN’s online courses and Visiting Professor of Education at Bard College, recently spoke on Inside Higher Ed’s podcast “Academic Minute,” discussing students’ demand for online global learning.

Once online learning became the norm after the Covid pandemic, OSUN educators asked whether the liberal arts higher education experience they offered would continue to proliferate, says Bates in the podcast. Research showed that the vast majority of students surveyed agreed that online liberal arts courses improved their ability to examine ideas critically and to make sound deductions. They also agreed that taking an online course with students from different countries enhanced their learning.

“Student voices from around the world suggest we’re on the right path,” says Bates of OSUN’s liberal arts global classroom model.
