Interactive and Inclusive: New Academic Tech Guides Fuel Integration Across OSUN
Student Sydney Oshuna-Williams in the process of filming an academic tech guide this summer.
OSUN has launched a new set of user-friendly
academic tech guides
–short, engaging how-to videos and PDFs that walk students and faculty through core digital learning applications, such as Brightspace, Padlet, Panopto, and Zoom. Co-created by OSUN partners and students during the summer of 2022, the guides provide students with the crucial tips they need to master their online courses and peer connections. Faculty can learn about using these applications to facilitate instruction.
OSUN’s Academic Technology team, based in Berlin and New York, and working in collaboration with Columbia’s Picker Center Digital Education Group, an OSUN partner, shot the 40+ videos at Bard Annandale (New York). The team designed the 1-3-minute
tutorials
with the objective of making key academic technology engaging and accessible to anyone across the network.
“It was a new experience being on camera and presenting,” explains junior
Sydney Oshuna-Williams
, who introduced many of the videos shot on her campus at Bard Annandale. “I have done quite a bit of theater…so I had a sense of what it might take, but actually seeing it all come together was exciting,” she says.
The guides underscore OSUN’s commitment to providing the technological support necessary to make higher education more interactive and inclusive, facilitating partner schools’ full integration with the network.
