Dareen Alhajaref
Dareen Alhajaref is a senior at Al-Quds Bard College, majoring in Media Studies, Digital Communication, and the Arts. She leads and coaches the Al-Quds Bard Debate Union, where fosters critical thinking and public speaking skills among students and aims to create a space for Palestinian students to engage in constructive dialogue. Dareen is an aspiring filmmaker and multimedia artist, exploring personal narratives and social themes through her creative pursuits and projects. Passionate about civic engagement, Dareen also co-leads the Solidarity Film Society, integrating social issues into film as a catalyst for revolution and upheaval. Drawing on her diverse experiences with various groups, she aims to promote global civic engagement within higher education. As a lead Global Engagement Fellow, she aspires to empower students to actively participate in creating a more inclusive and equitable world, advocating for student-led initiatives and movements that challenge systemic barriers and foster sustainable change. In a world where nothing is guaranteed, Dareen strongly believes that by drawing on our backgrounds to ensure inclusivity and solidarity, the capacity to work together towards creating a better world is certain.
