Judy Lewis
Bard CollegeJudy Lewis is a public health sociologist and Professor Emeritus of Public Health Sciences and Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut Medical School. Her major interests are women’s health, maternal, child and adolescent health, and health care in low resource countries. She is President of the Grand’Anse Health & Development Association Board; founding member and Board Chair of Women and Health Together for the Future, Board Secretary of Afghan Female Student Outreach and has served in leadership positions of many global health organizations including the World Federation of Public Health Associations, American Public Health Association and CORE Group. Prof. Lewis has worked to improve community health in rural Haiti for 35 years. She is senior author of “The Health of Women/Mothers and Children,” in Understanding Global Medicine and Health, and has written many articles about maternal and child health and other public health issues in Haiti, Ecuador and Sri Lanka.
