Zsuzsanna Arendas

Central European University

Zsuzsanna Árendás, PhD, is a senior research fellow at the Center of Social Sciences in Budapest, a research fellow at the Democracy Institute in Budapest, and a visiting professor at CEU PU in Vienna. She earned her doctorate from the University of Pécs in 2008, with a dissertation examining the shifting dynamics of ethnicity in a multiethnic Eastern European context, specifically Southern Slovakia. Trained across diverse social science disciplines—ethnography, cultural anthropology, and nationalism studies—her work over the past 15 years has focused on human mobility and the reproduction of social inequalities. This includes exploring the social and political dimensions of citizenship, migrant vulnerabilities, and immigrant integration. Zsuzsa has taught courses at CEU in the past 10 years, in the Heritage studies and Undergraduate program.
