Stephane Ipert

American University of Afghanistan

Stephane Ipert is the director of the Heritage Library in Qatar National Library (QNL), which is a unique collection of rare books, manuscripts, maps and archival collections about Qatar and the Islamic world. The Heritage Library includes, since 2015, the IFLA PAC Center for Arab region and Middle East . As such it is the reference centre for Preservation and Conservation for the International Federation of Libraries Associations. Since 2023, he is adjunct instructor at AUAF. Stephane has a background of art historian, conservator and lawyer specialized in legal issues related to art and heritage. Since 2020, he is leading an international project which aims to counter the trafficking of oriental manuscripts and documentary heritage (Himaya).
