Francesca Chiarvesio

Central European University

Francesca Chiarvesio is a sociologist with a Ph.D. from HSE University, Moscow, focusing on civil society and social integration in post-communist contexts. She earned a Master’s degrees in Russian Language and Literature from the University of Venice Ca’ Foscari—after completing a Bachelor’s in Foreign Languages there. Francesca’s research explores anti-corruption CSOs, disability advocacy, and governance, appearing in journals such as Problems of Post-Communism and Globalizations. She served as a Junior Researcher at HSE’s International Laboratory for Social Integration Research. Currently a postdoctoral fellow at CEU’s Democracy Institute, she collaborates on interdisciplinary projects examining democracy and development. She has secured multiple grants, including one for organizing LLM research hackaton and an educational project.
