Darina Sarelska
American University in BulgariaDarina Sarelska holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Information from University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her dissertation on Regressive Media Model sheds light on the rise and fall of press freedom in Bulgaria. Her post-doctorate studies explore the intersection of media and politics, as well as journalistic roles and sociology of news. Her research has been published in prestigious journals such as Journalism Practice and presented at renowned conferences, including ICA, BEA, and AEJMC. Prior to her academic pursuits, Dr. Sarelska has has served as a producer, executive producer, and news director for the two prominent national TV networks in Bulgaria- bTV and Nova (2000-2017). Currently teaching broadcast and mobile journalism, digital storytelling, media literacy, global media systems and broadcast writing and performance at the American University in Bulgaria.
