Chrys Margaritidis

Bard College

Chrys earned his BA from Bard's Economics Program. He continued his studies at Brandeis University, completing a MA in International Finance before going on to earn a MA in Philosophy from Open University, UK, and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Reading, where he put forward a theory of moral intuitions. Prior to returning to Bard, Chrys served as a member of the administration of Central European University for more than twenty years, most recently as the Dean of Students. Chrys has taught a variety of courses on applied ethics, ethics of artificial intelligence and civic engagement. His research interests lie in the areas of ethics, the intersection of philosophy and economics, and higher education, especially academic freedom and civic engagement. He is currently working on the issues of privacy and surveillance, online trust and university neutrality.
