The course aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and ethical imperatives of individuals who safeguard and advance civic space, using human rights advocacy as a central tool. The notions of “human rights defender” and “human rights advocate” will be used as synonyms, but with a space that specifies professional groups and individuals striving to promote and protect human rights.
