Microfinance has been hailed as a key tool for combating poverty through loans, grants, insurance, and other financial products for the poorest worldwide. This course explores these issues, introduces microfinance principles and practices, and examines contemporary debates from a developmental standpoint. It prepares students for roles as policy analysts and advisers in banks, financial institutions, foundations, governments, multilateral organizations, and international agencies.
