This course explores migration governance, cultural identity, and global citizenship, highlighting the transformation of migration studies since the Cold War. It examines how migration transcends national borders, influencing policies and responses from governments, international organizations, and civil society. The course analyzes the role of institutions in regulating migration, supporting integration, and shaping migrants’ identities and sense of belonging. Through case studies from Pakistan, Iran, and Türkiye, students will critically assess migration policies, governance structures, and their impact on both migrants and host societies, with a focus on cultural adaptation and global citizenship.
