Can literature be a powerful and yet subtle medium to raise voice for the rights of people? In this course we will look closely at some works of twentieth (and some twenty-first) century literature - fiction and poetry- that engage with realities of state violence, enforced disappearances, sexual violence, torture, and trauma, and examine how literature reflects and meditates upon violence and argues for the rights of the human.
