The course consists of four parts: In the first part, we will discuss the definitions of poverty and inequality and how the official definitions affect our understanding of their trends. In the second part we will spend time discussing policies intended to reduce both. The third part goes over macroeconomic studies through the lenses of development economics. Finally, the last part intends to familiarize students with recent developments in the study of the economics of distribution.
Prerequisites: Principles of Microeconomics/Macroeconomics or Principles of Economics
Credits: 4 US / 8 ECTS
