Students completing the Certificate in Global Educational Development will develop the capacity to:
1. Explain the significant challenges facing the education of disadvantaged children in diverse social, cultural, political, and economic contexts;
2. Analyze critical policy choices for educational equity by examining the design and contextual aspects of educational policies and their implementation;
3. Develop a systems perspective that enables them to examine interconnected issues shaping education, globally and locally;
4. Articulate critical policy and program perspectives that are actionable, equitable and responsive to resource limits and political dynamics;
5. Appreciate diverse institutional and professional paths to pursue their own future engagement in the wider ecosystem of international educational development
Eligibility
The OSUN Certificate in Global Educational Development is open to both advanced 3rd- and 4th-year undergraduates and graduate students from any OSUN institution. There is no added tuition cost for full-time students at OSUN affiliated institutions.
Requirements
The OSUN Certificate in Global Educational Development is comprised of two OSUN courses – a core course on “Policy and Practice in Global Education – Critical Perspectives” and a colloquium on “Education and Development in a Global Era,” along with an additional link course offered at the student‘s home institution. Undergraduate students and graduate students receive credits from American University of Central Asia.
GLOBALED Core: "Policy and Practice in Global Education – Critical Perspectives" examines the social, political, economic, and cultural forces that keep children excluded from schools and learning in different parts of the world.
GLOBALED Colloquium: "Education and Development in a Global Era" engages invited speakers – practitioners of and advocates for educational development from around the globe – and challenges students to reimagine the possible.
Global Classroom Format: Core and Colloquium are online and synchronous, with students and faculty from all OSUN institutions engaged in the same learning space.
Global Faculty Collaborative: Universidad de los Andes, American University of Central Asia, BRAC U, Central European University, and University of the Witwatersrand.
Opportunity: GLOBALED certificate students can attend the CEU Summer University Course in Budapest on "Education Policy Implementation in Low-Resource Contexts."
