Adem Elveren
American University in BulgariaAdem Elveren received PhD in economics at the University of Utah in 2008. Prior to joining the faculty at American University in Bulgaria, he served as a tenured professor at Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts. His main research field is defense economics. He has been studying the impact of military spending on the economy for over a decade. In 2019, Routledge published his book, titled The Economics of Military Spending: A Marxist Perspective. This work contributes to the literature by introducing a theoretical model and providing comprehensive empirical evidence on the impact of military spending on profit rates. Adem has also authored multiple articles in prominent field journals, examining the effects of military spending on income inequality and sustainability. Lastly, he authored a report for UN WOMEN on the impact of military spending on gender inequality. This report introduced a theoretical model and provided empirical evidence for the first time.
