Central European University’s Romani Studies Program is partnering with Bard College and the Bard Early Colleges to develop innovative models for higher education that catalyze systemic equity and inclusion within undergraduate and graduate studies. The program’s comprehensive, student-centered approach accelerates training and education of the most marginalized Roma individuals by supporting BA and MA preparatory programs, providing mentorship and partial scholarships for BA, MA, and PhD students, and developing community engagement programs. The program also develops teaching resources and intensive faculty training for CEU educators and hosts an intensive summer school with students and faculty from Bard Early Colleges. Although the project primarily addresses Roma structural inequity, its model will eventually be applied to other systematically disadvantaged and minority populations.
