The Economic Democracy Initiative (EDI), led by Bard College, is the network’s collaborative program focusing on the structural determinants of economic insecurity. Its projects examine the connections between inequality, unemployment, poverty, and public policy. They interrogate policy innovations, public finance, and the policy space available to different governments for addressing these challenges. EDI’s interdisciplinary curricular and research programs combine the tools and techniques from several methodological traditions in economics with an intersectional approach to data science and a focus on historical and institutional factors.
